The Adoption Process

Your initial enquiry may result in the opportunity to visit one of our shelters or foster homes by appointment to meet the cat(s) that we may be caring for that possibly suit your ideas for a new member of the family.

The first question you may be asked is, “What sort of cat are you looking for?” This may sound strange, but every cat is individual and we try our best to achieve the perfect match each time. Not every cat may suit your specific environment.

If you decide that the cat is right for you, then there will be a few simple steps, formalities and arrangements to make before the cat joins you in your home. We will complete some adoption forms and explain how the microchip registration will be recorded in your name and that as part of the adoption process, four weeks free pet insurance with Petplan will be provided.

The home-visit is a short visit by one of our volunteers, to make sure the cat you take into your home is right for you. It is also a good chance for you to ask other questions and discuss the ins and outs of homing a CP cat.

If you are in rented accomodation, a letter is required from your landlord or housing association giving permission for you to keep a cat at the property. It must also state how many animals are allowed at the property. We cannot home a cat before we have this.
